The 4th T20I match of the New Zealand vs Australia series 2021 was played at Westpac Stadium, Wellington on 5 March 2021. The Australian team made no changes in their playing 11 and New Zealand got Santner back again. Australia captain, Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to have the bat in hand first. Matthew Wade and Aaron Finch came on the crease and Tim Southee got the new ball in hand to open the attack.

At the starting of the inning, Australia lost the first wicket of Wade at a total of 18 runs only, and the returned man, Santner got the first breakthrough for NZ. After the dismissal, Josh Philippe came to join the captain but could not stay longer and was sent back by Ish Sodhi in 6.6 overs. After the end of the mandatory Powerplay, the Australian team had made 38 runs at the loss of 1 wicket. The top and middle-order were demolished by the NZ bowlers but the captain, Aaron Finch stayed on the crease and tried well with the bat, and made unbeaten 79 runs from 55 balls with five 4s and four 6s. Finally, New Zealand had put a defending total of 156 runs on the scoreboard. Ish Sodhi did an excellent job with the ball and took 3 important wickets of Josh Philippe, Marcus Stoinis, and Mitchell Marsh. New Zealand got the target of 157 runs from 120 balls to win the 4th T20 match of the NZ vs Aus series 2021.

Martin Guptill and Tim Seifert came out to the middle to chase the target and Ashton Agar got the responsibility to open the attack with the new ball. New Zealand did not get a good start and lost the first wicket of Martin Guptill at the small total of 21 runs in 4.1 overs. Kane Williamson, the captain himself came out to join Tim Seifert but Australian bowlers performed very well and did not allow any New Zealand batsmen to settle down. New Zealand’s wickets started falling at regular intervals and they had lost 7 wickets at the score of 64 runs only. Ashton Agar, Adam Zampa, Kane Richardson, and Glenn Maxwell played a key role with the ball and became the destructor for New Zealand batsmen. Finally, the NZ squad could make 106 runs only and lost the match.

Australia won the 4th T20I match of NZ vs Aus T20 series 2021 by 50 runs and Aaron Finch was the Man of the Match.
