The 36th T20 match of the KFC Big Bash League was fought between Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Stars at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide on 11 Jan 2021. Melbourne Stars won the toss and made a decision to bat first. Andre Fletcher and Marcus Stoinis were sent to open the inning for the Stars. Worrall got the new ball in hand to attack.
Melbourne Stars lost the first wicket very early at the score of 17 runs only. Fletcher was sent back by Wes Agar in the 4th over. After the dismissal, Nick Larkin was sent at the number 3 to join Stoinis. Larkin tried hard but could not handle the pressure and lost his wicket at 52 runs. Maxwell came to join Stonis but Rashid did not allow him to settle down and was sent back at the very next ball. Stoinis and Maddinson tried well and gave a defending total of 149 runs at the loss of 7 wickets. Stoinis made 47 runs from 31 balls and Maddinson played an unbeaten inning of 48 runs. Adelaide Strikers needed 150 runs to win the match from 120 balls.
Matt Renshaw and Philip Salt were sent to chase the target for Adelaide. The new ball was given to Adam Zampa. The Strikers lost the first wicket of Renshaw at the score of 27 runs in the 4th over. Then Alex Carey came to join Philip Salt and contributed important runs for their team. Salt was sent by Maxwell at 58 runs and then Alex Carey was also dismissed in the next over. Two wickets in the two overs brought the Strikers under pressure. But Jonathan Wells and Ryan Gibson handled the condition and achieved the target of 150 runs in the 19th over.
Adelaide Strikers won the match by 5 wickets with 6 balls left. Wes Agar was the Player of the Match.
