The second T20 match of Big Bash League was played between Brisbane Heat and Melbourne Stars at Manuka Oval on 11th December 2020. Glenn Maxwell, the captain of Melbourne Stars won the toss and elected to field first. It was not a good start for the Brisbane Heat and lost its first wicket at the score of 19. Then Chris Lynn came to bat after the dismissal of Heazlett.

Coulter-Nile brought into the attack in the 8th over. Bryant got the edge and was caught behind the stamps at the second ball of Coulter-Nile. Then a direct hit from Cartwright had sent back Lawrence and Brisbane were in trouble. Coulter-Nile again sent back Chris Lynn at his first ball of the second over. Now, the score for Heat was 106 at the loss of 5 wickets. Dilbar Husain in the 16th over clean bowled Cooper. Cooper was trying to hit over fine leg but he missed the full toss and lost his wicket. After the dismissal of Cooper, Brisbane Heat was all out at the low score of 125 runs. The target of 124 runs was not a big deal for Melbourne Stars. Coulter-Nile did amazing work and took 4 wickets in his 4 overs and gave only 10 runs.

Marcus Stoinis and Andrew Fletcher came to open from the Melbourne side. Bartlett took the wicket of Stoinis at his second ball of the very first over. After the dismissal of Marcus Stoinis, Cartwright came to join Andrew Fletcher. But Fletcher was also caught and bowled by Kuhnemann in the 3rd over at the score of 20 runs. It was not a good start for Melbourne Stars and they lost their 3rd wicket at 34 runs.

Then, Glen Maxwell came to bat and a superb partnership between Maxwell & Cartwright had made things easy for Melbourne. Melbourne achieved the target easily in the 17.1 overs with 17 balls left. Maxwell made 46 runs from 26 balls and Cartwright made 46 runs from 42 balls. In this way, Melbourne started its journey with a victory, and Brisbane was disappointed.
