Kolkata Knight Riders spin their way to a victory against Delhi - The 42nd match of the Indian Premier League was played between Kolkata Knight Riders and the Delhi Daredevils. The points table currently is packed with teams at same points and thus every match counts from here. The KKR were the hosts for this match as the match was being played at the Eden gardens. After winning the toss KKR had no confusion in batting first as they had played 4 spinners in this match.

The opening pair of Robin Uthappa and Gautam Gambhir scored 38 runs in 4.3 overs. Gambhir was looking good but lost his wicket after scoring only 12 runs. Manish Pandey then followed and batted along with Uthappa to take the team to a total of 63. Uthappa yet again after getting a start of 32 runs lost his wicket. The next batsmen were a surprise for all as Piyush Chawla walked into bat. He scored 22 runs while Pandey too scored 22 runs before losing his wicket. In 15th over the team was at 108/4. Andre Russell and Yusuf Pathan were on crease. Russell failed in this match. Pathan on the other hand showed skills to score 42 runs in 24 balls. In the end Johan Botha came in and scored 17 runs off 5 balls. KKR posted a score of 171 runs in 20 overs. Imran Tahir took 2 wickets to become the most successful bowler for his team in this match.

Delhi had a tough job at hand in a spinning wicket. The opening pair of Manoj Tiwary and Shreyas Iyer scored 63 runs. The start was slow as the runs were made in 10 overs. Tiwary lost his wicket after scoring 25 runs while Iyer scored 40 runs. Jean Paul Duminy showed some brilliance with the bat scoring 25 runs off 16 balls but once he lost his wicket the Spinners took over the match. Piyush Chawla took 4 wickets in the match as Delhi was able to post only 158 runs in 20 overs. With this KKR now moved to the 3rd spot in the table.

Yusuf Pathan won the Yes Bank Maximum Sixes award while Chawla was named as the man of the match.
