South Africans stop West Indies to complete a white wash in the T20 series - The South Africans were trailing in the 3 match T20 series by 2-0 and the 3rd match was a fight for pride. The match was more about gaining the confidence back as the home team had lost all their tricks of fighting against the vibrant West Indian team. The last T20 match of the series was played at Kingsmead in Durban. Here after winning the toss the visitors decided to field first.

Batting first Morne van Wyk and Reeza Hendricks gave their team a great start as they scored 111 runs for the 1st wicket in 12.4 overs. Hendricks was the 1st one to go as he lost his wicket after scoring 42 runs off 32 balls. Morne had different plans as he continued his on slaughter with the bat. He moves onto score 114 runs in 70 balls having a strike rate of 162. David Wiese scored 21 runs in 16 balls thus the South Africans ended up scoring 195 runs in 20 overs. Kieron Pollard was the best bowler who took 1 wicket having an economy of 6.5.

Batting 2nd the team had a mammoth score of 196 to chase in 20 overs and they required a good start to chase it down successfully. The home side bowling attack kept it tight from the word go taking wickets up early. After a partnership of 48 runs for the 1st wicket the South African came back in the match taking 5 quick wickets and the team was 84/5 in 13th over. The remaining players didn’t last too long as they found it difficult to maintain the run rate and thus lose wickets at quick succession. The West Indians were bowled out for 126 runs with 1 over remaining. Lendl Simmons was the top scorer in the team who scored 49 runs. David Wiese took 5 wickets in the match to become the top wicket taker. Morne van Wyk was named as the man of the match as the series ended 2-1 for West Indies.
