Northern Districts win a rain hit match against Cape Cobras - The 3rd match of the Oppo Champions League T20 was played between two international teams. It was a match played between the Cape Cobras from South Africa and the Northern Districts from New Zealand. This match was played in the city of Raipur ad Northern Districts with their performance in qualifiers were the crowd favorites. After winning the toss the Cape Cobras decided to field first.

Batting first the Northern Districts got off to a flying start. Anton Devcich and Kane Williamson managed to give the team a dream start. The openers scored 140 runs for the 1st wicket in just 13.4 overs. Devcich after scoring 67 runs was unfortunately run out. BJ Walting lately joined Williamson to continue scoring some huge runs for the team. He scored 32 runs thus allowed Williamson score some important runs. Williamson scored 101 runs off just 49 balls. He scored the fastest century in the tournament. The team looked that they were flying away with the bat but the cobras managed to pull some tricks out of the hat as they managed to take some wickets at the end. This restricted the score to just 206 runs which once looked would be much higher than this. Charl Langeveldt was the best bowler for the cobras as he took 2 wickets and gave away runs at an economy of 6.75.

Cape Cobras needed a good start in order to chase this score down but the very first ball saw Trent Boult take a wicket. Stiaan van Zyl on the very 1st ball was bowled. Hashim Amla and Robin Peterson found scoring runs difficult and they looked to setup an innings for the future. This was rather a bad idea as the threat of rain was always there and the par score should have been what they were required to chase every over. The players failed to do so and Amla after scoring 20 runs off 14 balls lost his wicket too. Petersen was on 17 and team was on 44 after 7.2 overs rain came down heavily. The rain interrupted the match and thus Cobras lost the match by 33 runs according to the D/L method.

With this win the Northern Districts earned 4 points in Group B. Kane Williamson won the 2500 USD each for the Suzuki Gixxer power player award and Oppo Man of the match award.
