Australia held their nerves to win a dramatic match - The Australians in the previous match had already emerged victorious in the series and this was a match where the South Africans to win it for pride. All the matches in this series had been a close encounter and this was nothing less than that. South Africa after winning the toss decided to bat first in this match.

Batting first Hashim Amla lost his wicket early scoring only 18 runs but Quinton de Kock and Rilee Rossouw together built the game for the team. They together took the team to a total of 161 runs in 32 overs but in the next over Rossouw lost his wicket after scoring 51 runs. Australians then came back strong taking two more important wickets of Faf du Plessis and David Miller in quick succession. This time around Kock got a new partner in the form of Farhaan Behardien. He partnered Kock well. Quinton moved on to score his century and lost his wicket after scoring 107 runs. Behardien scored 63 runs in the innings to take the team total to 280. Pat Cummins took 3 wickets in the match for his team and was the best bowler on this day for Australia.

The Australians had a similar start as they too lost David Warner up early who scored only 21 runs. Later it was Aaron Finch and Shane Watson who built the innings for the team and scored 76 and 82 runs respectively. Aaron Finch departed in 22nd over and Watson was joined by Steven Smith who scored 67 runs and took the team close to the winning score. The match turned to be interesting as Australia lost too many wickets in the 45th over as they got reduced from 264/4 to 267/8. In the en Australia won by 2 wickets with 17 balls remaining. Robin Peterson took 4 wickets for the team but failed to win it for the team. Australia emerge victorious winning the series 4-1 and Quinton de Kock was named as the man of the match.
