Australia dominates South Africa in the 3rd ODI of the series - The series between Australia and South Africa was levelled at 1-1. The 3rd ODI of the tournament was played at Manuka Oval in Canberra. In this match the Australians were looking to make a comeback in the series while the visitors were looking to make sure that their bowling clicks once again to give them a good place in the series.

Australia after winning the toss decided to bat first. The openers Aaron Finch and David Warner provided the team a great start. They together took the team to a total of 118 runs in 20 overs. David Warner after scoring 53 runs lost his wickets. Shane Watson joined hands with Finch and they took the wagon ahead and took the score to a total of 189 runs. Watson after scoring 40 runs lost his wicket. Finch was in top form and he scored 109 runs losing his wicket in the 41st over. Steven Smith scored 73 runs in the end of the innings. He managed to score these runs in just 55 balls and thus took the team to a total of 329 runs in 50 overs. Morne Morkel took 2 wickets in his 10 overs but at the same time gave away 84 uns.

South Africa needed a good start to chase down the required runs. Hashim Amla and Quinton de Kock were able to provide the required start scoring 108 runs in 18.2 overs. Kock after scoring 47 runs lost his wicket and this provided the home team a gateway to march onto the visitors batting line-up. They took 2 quick wickets and hence stopped them from getting away with the match. AB de Villiers though joined hands with Amla and tried to bring the team back in match. They together took the team to a score of 224 runs. Amla scored 102 runs while de Villiers scored 2 runs. Once these two players lost their wickets the team didn’t replied well and lost all the wickets quite easily. The South Africans were bowled out for 256 thus losing the match by 73 runs. Steven Smith was rightly named as the man of the match.
