England vs Pakistan T20 Series 2020

There was a T20 international series of 3 matches played between England and Pakistan on August-September of 2020 in England. England team was captained by Eoin Morgan and the visiting team Pakistan was captained by Babar Azam. Both teams played very good cricket in the series and showed the level and quality cricket present in their side.

The 1st match of the series was played on August 28, Friday at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. In the 1st match of the series, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and elected to field first. Jason Roy was not in playing XI so T Banton opened the inning with Jonny Bairstow for English team. T Banton played a beautiful inning of 71 runs on 42 balls in 1st game of the series. England was on 131/6 at 16.1 over when the rain interrupted the match. The match was interrupted by rain and the fans got no result in 1st match of the series. But Pakistan spin bowlers Shadab Khan and Imad Wasim showed good bowling in 1st match. 

The 2nd match of the series was played on August 30, Sunday at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. England captain won the toss and chose to field first. Pakistan openers gave a solid start to team and made 72 runs opening partnership. Fakhar Zaman made 36 runs and skipper Babar Azam made brilliant half century. Babar Azam made 56 runs and got out to Adil Rashid. Mohammad Hafeez played a very good and important inning of 69 runs in just 36 balls. Hafeez helped Pakistan team to put a good total on board. Pakistan made 195 runs in their 20 over. Adil Rashid took 2 wickets for England. It was a good high score to chase for England.

English opener T Banton got out on 20 but Jonny Bairstow made 44 runs and gave good start to English team. Captain Morgan played captains knock and made brilliant 66 runs in just 33 balls. He made it easy for England to chase the target. David Malan finished the game for England and made not out 54 runs in just 36 balls and England chased the target with 5 balls to spare. England won the game by 5 wickets and took 1-0 lead.

The 3rd or last match of the series was played on September 1, Tuesday at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester. England won the toss and elected to bowl first. Pakistan’s opening batsmen got out early but Mohammad Hafeez and Haider Ali made a brilliant partnership of 100 runs for the 3rd wicket.  Haider Ali made 54 runs and Mohammad Hafeez made not out 86 runs for Pakistan which helped Pakistan to make 190 runs in their 20 over. T Banton made 46 runs for England. Captain Morgan got run out and that was the game changing moment. M Ali played beautiful innings of 61 runs but England made 185 runs in their 20 over. Pakistan won the game by 5 runs and levelled the series. The series was tied by 1-1.  Mohammad Hafeez was selected as player of the series for his brilliant batting performance.
