Yuvraj And Ashwin Guide India Home Against The Kangaroos

India having already qualified for the semi-final spot faced the depleted Australian side in a group 2 match on 30th march in Mirpur. This match was nothing less than a match made for getting a match practice for team India. Australians won the toss and elected to field first. Indians dropped Dhawan and brought in Rahane to open along with Rohit Sharma. The Mumbai opener failed to make his mark on the match and fell cheaply in the 1st over. Kohli and Rahane looked well in control before Kohli went for 23 followed by Rahane. At the end of 11.3 overs India were only 66 for the loss of 4 wickets. Yuvraj and the skipper were on the crease and stage was set for the stylish Yuvraj to walk back into form again. He didn’t miss this opportunity as the south paw scored 60 runs of just 43 balls. The duo controlled the Indian innings and guided them to a score of 159.

The kangaroos had a good bowling spell in the beginning but lost its control at the end. This was not the case in their batting, they failed to impress again as opener Finch fell very cheaply followed by White. The two successive falls of wickets was nothing but the beginning of the downfall as the Australian was able to score only 86 runs. Ashwin was the star performer for the match as he took 4 wickets in 3.2 overs by giving away only 11 runs.
