Melbourne Renegades vs Adelaide Strikers Head to Head

Melbourne Renegades (REN) and Adelaide Strikers (STR) teams are the two Big Bash League (BBL) teams created back in BBL 2011. Both the teams, REN and STR, have good Australian experienced cricketers, and both the teams have 1 BBL title. Melbourne Renegades are the defending champions of BBL 2020-21. Melbourne Renegades won its maiden BBL title in the year 2019 by defeating Melbourne Stars in the final. Both the teams have shown good quality cricket in BBL history. Adelaide Strikers are proved to be more dominating against Melbourne Renegades. Both the teams have played 12 matches against each other in the entire history of BBL. Adelaide Strikers managed to win 8 games out of 12 while Melbourne Renegades won only 4 times. The current captain of Adelaide Strikers is Travis Head, and the team is coached by Australian legend Jason Gillespie while Melbourne Renegades team will be captained by Aaron Finch in BBL 2020-21. Dan Christian will also be the captain of Melbourne Renegades in the absence of Aaron Finch.

The first time Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers played against each other was on the first BBL season back in 2011-12. The Adelaide Strikers team was captained by Michael Klinger and Melbourne Renegades was captained by AB McDonald. The skipper Michael Klinger was awarded as the player of the match for his match-winning batting performance.

Adelaide Strikers vs Melbourne Renegades Head to Head in Big Bash League 2012-13

Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers played 1 league game against each other in BBL 2012-13. Both the franchise changed the captain of the team, and the Melbourne Renegades gave the captaincy to Australian Aaron Finch. STR vs REN Head to Head in Big Bash League 2013-14

Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers clashed 1 time in BBL 2013-14 during the league stage. Johan Botha maintained his captaincy for Adelaide Strikers while Ben Rohrer was assigned as captain of Melbourne Renegades. The league match between REN and STR of BBL 2013-14 was played on January 22, 2014, at Adelaide, Oval. The Melbourne Renegades team batted first and made 155 runs in their 20 overs. Adelaide Strikers made 154 runs in 2nd inning. DJ Bravo was selected as player of the match for his 2/23 and brilliant 47 runs all-round performance in the match.

REN vs STR Head to Head in Big Bash League 2014-15

Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers played only 1 league game against each other in BBL 2014-15. Johan Botha maintained his captaincy for Adelaide Strikers, and Ben Rohrer maintained his captaincy for Melbourne Renegades in BBL 2014-15. The match was played on January 19, 2015, at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne. Adelaide Strikers batted first and made 166 runs in their 20 overs. Travis Head played a brilliant inning of 71 runs in just 34 balls for Adelaide Strikers. Captain Botha Finished the Strikers inning in style and made 32 runs in just 19 balls. Adelaid vs Renegades Head to Head in Big Bash League 2015-16

Brad Hodge was assigned as captain of Adelaide Strikers, and Cameron White was selected as captain of Melbourne Renegades in BBL 2015-16. REN and STR played 1 league game against each other in BBL 2015-16. The league match between REN and STR in BBL 2015-16 was played on January 18, 2016, at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne. Adelaide Strikers team batted first and made 170 runs in their 20 overs. Tim Ludeman scored most 49 runs, and Jono Dean also scored 48 runs for Adelaide Strikers. Xavier Doherty took 2 wickets for Melbourne Renegades. It was a chase of 171 runs for Renegades batsmen to win the game. Chris Gayle opened the Renegades inning and scored brilliant 56 runs in only 17 balls. He smashed 7 sixes and gave a very strong start to Melbourne Renegades. Adelaide Strikers won the match by 27 runs. Travis Head was selected as player of the match for important 3 wickets.

Strikers vs Renegades Head to Head in Big Bash League 2016-17

Brad Hodge maintained his captaincy for Adelaide Strikers and Aaron Finch was selected as the new captain of Melbourne Renegades in BBL 2016-17. Melbourne Renegades played 1 match against Adelaide Strikers in BBL 2016-17 at home. The match was played on January 16, 2017, at Adelaide Oval. Melbourne Renegades batted first and made 171 runs in their 20 overs. Marcus Harris made most 85 runs in just 53 balls for Melbourne Renegades. Renegades vs Strikers Head to Head in Big Bash League 2017-18

The franchise of both the teams changed captain of the team. Travis Head was appointed as the new captain of Adelaide Strikers while the captaincy of Melbourne Renegades was given back to Cameron White for the second time in BBL. Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers collapsed 2 times in BBL 2017-18. The 1st time they played against each other was on January 22, 2018, at Marvel Ground, Melbourne in the league stage. Adelaide Strikers batted first and made only 173 runs. Adelaide Strikers skipper Travis Head made brilliant 58 runs. Colin Ingram also played a beautiful inning of 68 runs in just 36 balls for Strikers. DJ Bravo took 2 wickets for Melbourne Renegades. Melbourne Renegades batsmen failed to chase the target and made 147 runs in 2nd inning. Adelaide Strikers won the match by 26 runs. Rashid Khan, Billy Stanlake and Ben Laughlin took 2 wickets each for Adelaide strikers. Colin Ingram was selected as player of the match for his match-winning batting performance.

The 2nd time they played against each other was on the semi-final match of BBL 2017-18. The match was played on February 2, 2018, at Adelaide Oval. Adelaide Strikers batted first and made 178 runs in 1st inning. Captain Travis Head made most not out 85 runs in just 57 balls. It was a target of 179 runs for Renegades team to play the final of BBL 2017-18. Marcus Harris scored most 45 runs for Melbourne Renegades. Kieron Pollard and DJ Bravo also batted very well for Melbourne Renegades but left 2 runs short to target. Melbourne Renegades made 177 runs in 2nd inning. Adelaide Strikers won the match by 1 run. Travis Head was selected as player of the match for his not out 85 runs in big knock out game.

Renegades vs Adelaide Head to Head in Big Bash League 2018-19

Colin Ingram was appointed as the new captain of Adelaide Strikers while Tom Cooper was appointed as captain of Melbourne Renegades in BBL 2018-19. REN and STR played 2 matches against each other in BBL 2018-19. The 1st match between these two sides was held on December 23, 2018, at Adelaide Oval. Adelaide Strikers team batted first and made 174 runs in their 20 overs. Matthew Short made most 65 runs in just 41 balls for Strikers. J Wells also scored 42 runs for Strikers. Kane Richardson took 2 wickets for Melbourne Renegades. Mohammed Nabi and Daniel Christian made not out 48 and 49 runs respectively and finished the game for Melbourne Renegades. Melbourne Renegades made 176/5 in 19.1 overs and finished the match. Melbourne Renegades defeated Adelaide Strikers by 5 wickets and 5 balls to spare. Daniel Christian was awarded as the player of the match for his match-winning performance. 

The 2nd time they played against each other in BBL 2018-19 was on January 3, 2019, at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne. Adelaide Strikers batted first and made 158 runs in their 20 overs. J Weatherland scored most 71 runs in 44 balls for Strikers. Cameron Boyce took most 2 wickets for Melbourne Renegades. Melbourne Renegades team failed to chase the target and made only 126 runs in 2nd inning. B Webster scored most 33 runs for Melbourne Renegades. Michael Nesser bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets by giving just 10 runs in his 3 overs. Adelaide Strikers won the game by 32 runs. Jake Weatherland was awarded as the player of the match for his 71 on 44 deliveries.

Strikers versus Renegades Head to Head in Big Bash League 2019-20

Both the teams Adelaide Strikers and Melbourne Renegades changed their captain in BBL 2019-20. Aaron Finch was assigned as captain of Melbourne Renegades, and Alex Carry handled the captaincy of Adelaide Strikers. Melbourne Renegades played 2 games against Adelaide Strikers in BBL 2019-20. The 1st match between REN and STR in BBL 2019-20 was held on December 29, 2019, at Marvel Stadium, Melbourne. Adelaide Strikers batted first and gave a target of 156 runs for Renegades to win the match. Phil Salt scored brilliant 54 runs in just 26 balls and gave a brilliant start to the team. Captain Carry also made 41 runs for Strikers. Kane Richardson took most 4 wickets for Melbourne Renegades. Melbourne Renegades batsmen failed to chase the target. Renegades made 137 runs in their 20 overs. Aaron Finch made a brilliant half-century for Melbourne Renegades but unfortunately got run out. Rashid Khan bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets by giving only 15 runs in his 4 overs. Adelaide Strikers won the match by 18 runs. Rashid Khan was awarded as the player of the match. He scored 25 runs in 16 balls with the bat, and he also took 2 wickets in his 4 overs spell.

The 2nd time both the team played against each other in BBL 2019-20 was on January 12, 2020, at Adelaide Oval. Adelaide Strikers batted first and made 173 runs in 1st inning. J Wells scored a brilliant half-century. He made 58 runs in 38 balls. Matthew Short also made 41 runs in just 28 balls. It was a target of 174 runs for Melbourne Renegades to win the match. Adelaide Strikers bowlers bowled brilliantly and managed to defend the target. Melbourne team got all out on just 110 runs in 17.4 overs. It was a horrible performance by the batsmen of Melbourne Renegades. Peter Siddle took most 3 wickets for Adelaide Strikers. Adelaide Strikers defeated Melbourne Renegades by 63 runs and for the 2nd time in BBL 2019-20. J Wells was awarded as the player of the match for his brilliant batting performance.

Adelaide vs Melbourne Head to Head in Big Bash League 2020-21

Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers will have 2 league matches against each other in BBL 2020-21. Aaron Finch will maintain the captaincy of Melbourne Renegades, and Travis Head will guide the Adelaide Strikers. The 1st league match between Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers will be held on January 5, Tuesday, 2021 at Marvel Ground, Melbourne. Both the teams will look forward to victory, but the host Renegades are considered as favourites. The 2nd league match of Melbourne Renegades and Adelaide Strikers will be held on January 8, 2021, at Adelaide Oval.
