The 2nd test match of the 2 matches Test series between Sri Lanka and South Africa was played on January 3-7 of 2021 at Wanderers Stadium. South African team was leading the series by 1-0. Sri Lanka won the toss and chose to bat first.

Sri Lankan captain D Karunaratne and K Parera opened the inning for Sri Lankan team. The openers failed to give a good solid start to the team, and D Karunaratne got out early on just 2 runs. Kushal Parera played brilliant inning and made 60 runs in just 67 balls. He gave a speedy start to the team. Sri Lankan middle-order collapsed horribly, and the team got all out on just 157 runs. Kushal Parera was the top scorer for Sri Lanka in 1st inning. Anrich Nortje bowled brilliantly and took 6 wickets for South Africa. W Mulder also took 3 wickets.

South African openers Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram came to bat. Aiden Markram failed to give a good start to the team and got out early on just 5 runs to A Fernando. Dean Elgar played quality inning and showed quality shots. R Van der Dussen came to bat at number 3 position. He made a brilliant partnership of 184 runs for 2nd wicket with Dean Elgar. Dean Elgar scored a century and made most 127 runs for South Africa. R Van der Dussen also scored 67 runs. Faf du Plessis and Quinton de Kock failed to score runs for South Africa team. South African team got all out on 302 runs. V Fernando took 5 wickets for Sri Lankan team in 1st inning. South Africa took a lead of 145 runs in the test match.

D Karunaratne and Kushal Parera opened the 2nd inning for Sri Lanka. Kushal Parera got out early on just 1 run to Lungi Ngidi. D Karunaratne played captains knock and made a brilliant century. He scored most 103 runs for Sri Lanka. L Thirimanne also scored 31 runs for Sri Lanka team. Wicket-keeper batsman N Dickwella made 36 runs, and Sri Lanka got all out on just 211 runs. L Ngidi took 4 wickets, and L Sipamla took 3 wickets for South Africa. It was a target of only 67 runs for South Africa to win the match. Dean Elgar and Aiden Markram easily chased the target, and South Africa won the match by 10 wickets. Dean Elgar was selected as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance. South Africa won the series by 2-0.
