Bangladesh vs Pakistan T20 Series 2021

Pakistan visited Bangladesh for the 3 T20 matches bilateral series in the month of November 2021. Pakistan did a fabulous job in the group matches of ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 and reached the knockout round whereas Bangladesh gave a little less effort than their capacity. Pak vs Ban T20I series 2021 was started with the first T20I match at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on 19 November 2021. Babar Azam was leading the Pakistan T20 squad.

In the first match, Bangladeshi captain Mahmudullah went to bat first after winning the toss. Saif Hassan made his debut in T20I for Bangladesh in that match. He is an opening batsman and opened with Mohammad Naim. Both the openers could not give a good start and returned back at the score of 10 runs but Bangladesh’s nightmare did not stop there and they were losing the wickets at regular intervals. Mohammad Naim’s 36, Mahedi Hasan’s 30, and Nurul Hasan’s 28 runs helped Bangladesh to reach the score of 127. Pakistani bowlers did a great job and stopped the opposition at a low total. Hasan Ali was tremendous with the ball and took 3 wickets.

Pakistan sent out their openers to chase the target but they could not get a good start and their top order was demolished very badly by Bangladeshi bowlers. Pakistan had lost 4 wickets at the score of 24 runs only. Then a crucial partnership of 56 runs between Fakhar Zaman and Khushdil Shah got Pakistan back into the game. Finally, Pakistan achieved the target in 19.2 overs and won the match by 4 wickets with 4 balls remaining. Hasan Ali was awarded the Man of the Match title.

The 2nd match of the series was fought at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka on 20 November 2021 where Bangladesh again went for batting first and scored only 108 for 7 in 20 overs. Pakistani bowlers put in a great effort and stopped Bangladeshi batters at a low total. No batsmen except Najmul Hossain Shanto could no batter throughout the entire innings. Shaheen Shah Afridi and Shadab Khan performed well with the ball and took 2 wickets each. Then Pakistani batters came out to chase the target and they did not face any problem and got it very comfortably with the help of Mohammad Rizwan’s 39 and Fakhar Zaman’s 57 runs. Fakhar Zaman was named Man of the Match for his match-winning innings. Pakistan had won the series by 2-0 but there was one T20 left.

The 3rd match of the series took place on 22 November 2021 at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka. Bangladesh for the 3rd time won the toss in the series and went to bat first. After losing the first two matches after batting first, it was a very strange decision taken by the Bangladesh captain. Once again, Pakistani bowlers did not allow Bangladeshi to play big strokes and stopped them at 124 for 7. The opener Mohammad Naim could make 47 runs but he took 50 balls which could not help them much. Pakistan for the third time was in a winning position because of their bowler’s efforts. After losing Babar Azam very early at a total of 32, Mohammad Rizwan and Haider Ali handled the situation very carefully and got the victory for their team by 5 wickets.Haider Ali was named Man of the Match and Mohammad Rizwan was chosen Man of the Series.

Thus, Pakistan won the Pakistan vs Bangladesh T20I series 2021 by 3-0.

Mohammad Wasim Jr was the leading wicket-taker with 5 wickets and Fakhar Zaman was the top scorer with 91 runs in the series.
