India played Bangladesh in their third group match in Mirpur. This match was an important match for India as a victory would confirm its place in the semis. Indian skipper won the toss and decided to put the host nation into bat first. The decision of batting second seemed to be correct right from the start when Bangladesh lost 3 wickets in no time. Anamul Haque and Mahmudullah played a confident innings to make sure that their bowlers have something to defend. The Indian spinners restricted the Bangla tigers to 138. Ashwin bowled brilliantly taking 2 wickets while Mishra took 3 wickets.

The small score of 138 looked like a piece of cake for the formidable batting line-up of the men in blue. Though Dhawan fell early after scoring just 1 run but Sharma and Kohli ensured that Indians are on their way to the semi-final of the tournament which they last won in 2007. Both the young talented batsmen scored half centuries and guided the team home with 9 balls to spare.
