1. Sanath Jayasuriya

Sanath Jayasuriya has the record for the fastest 50 in One Day International for Sri Lanka. Jayasuriya completed this feat in only 17 balls, presenting an impressive show of power striking. This outstanding accomplishment highlights Jayasuriya's remarkable batting skills and his capacity to take control of the match right away. During the Singer Cup final between Sri Lanka and Pakistan in Singapore on April 7, 1996, Pakistan batted first and was bowled out for a total of 215 runs in 48.3 overs. In the second inning, despite Jayasuriya scoring the fastest 50, Sri Lanka could only manage a total of 172 runs before getting all out, resulting in a 43-run loss for Sri Lanka.

 

2. Kusal Perera

Kusal Perera holds the 2nd position for making the fastest 50 in ODI for Sri Lanka and he did this feat in 17 balls only while playing against Pakistan in Pallekele in 2015. Pakistan added a total of 287 runs on the scoreboard while batting first. In reply, Kusal Perera and Tillakaratne Dilshan gave a wonderful start where Perera struck the quickest 50 runs in 17 balls helping them to achieve the target in 48.1 overs only and thus Sri Lanka won the match by 2 wickets.

 

3. Angelo Matthews

Angelo Matthews is in the number 3rd position for making the fastest fifty in ODI for Sri Lanka. This impressive record was made in the 35th match of the 2015 ODI World Cup, where Sri Lanka faced off against Scotland at Hobart. While batting first Sri Lanka added a huge total of 363 runs but it was Angelo Mathews who truly stole the show with his remarkable display of batting prowess. Mathews blasted 51 runs off 21 balls, including one four and six maximums, in an explosion of powerful strokes to reach the half-century milestone in just 20 balls.

 

4. Dinesh Chandimal

Dinesh Chandimal made the record of the 4th fastest 50 in an ODI for Sri Lanka. He did this impressive feat in the 32nd match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015 against Australia in Sydney. Australia got the chance to bat first and put a total of 376 runs on the scoreboard. In reply, Sri Lanka started well and Cahndimal at number 6 added 52 runs in 24 balls by completing his fifty in just 22 balls but unfortunately, he was retired hurt in that match. Sri Lanka could not stay long after his retirement and was bowled out at 312. 

 

5. Thisara Perera

Thisara Perera holds the record of making the 5th fastest 50 in ODI for Sri Lanka. He achieved this feat in 23 balls while playing against England in Colombo in 2014. England was on a tour of Sri Lanka in 2014 where both teams faced each other for the last match of the 7 ODI series. Sri Lanka batted first and scored 302 runs whereas England could make 215 runs and lost the match by 87 runs. Sri Lanka’s lower middle order batter Thisara Perera displays an impressive show by hitting 54 runs in 26 balls including his fastest 50 in that match.
