The 2nd match of the 3 matches T20I series between Australia and India was held on December 6, Sunday at Sydney Cricket Ground. The Indian team was leading the series by 1-0. Aaron Finch was not available for Australia in this match and thus wicket-keeper batsman Matthew Wade was appointed as captain of Australia. India won the toss and elected to field first.

Matthew Wade and D'Arcy Short opened the inning for Australia. Mathew Wade played captains knock and gave speedy start to the team.  Matthew Wade scored 58 runs in just 32 balls. D'Arcy Short failed to score runs and got out on just 9 runs. Steven Smith also made 46 runs in 38 balls and made 45 runs partnership with Glenn Maxwell for 3rd wicket. Maxwell played a small cameo of 22 runs in just 13 balls. Moises Henriques impressed again with his batting skills and made 26 runs. Australia made 194 runs in their 20 overs. T Natarajan bowled brilliantly and took 2 wickets for India. He gave only 20 runs in his 4 overs and conceded only one boundary in his 4 overs.

It was a big target of 195 runs for India to win the match and seal the series. Shikhar Dhawan and KL Rahul opened the inning for India. They gave a brilliant start to the team and made an opening partnership of 56 runs. KL Rahul made 30 runs in 22 balls and got out to Andrew Tye. Shikhar Dhawan scored a brilliant half-century for the team and made 52 runs in just 36 balls. Virat Kohli played a brilliant inning of 40 runs again, and he was looking good in the big run chase, but he got out to debutant Daniel Sams. India was struggling on 149/4 after 16 overs. Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer were on the pitch for India and 46 runs were required in 23 balls for victory. Hardik Pandya and Shreyas Iyer finished the game for India and made a brilliant match-winning partnership. Hardik Pandya scored 42 runs in just 22 balls. It was unbelievable, and he smashed 2 sixes in his inning. Shreyas Iyer also made 12 runs in just 5 balls. He set the game for Hardik Pandya to finish. Mitchell Swepson impressed with his bowling and took 1 wicket for Australia. India won the match by 6 wickets and 2 balls to spare. India also sealed the series by 2-0 and the winning streak in T20Is continued for India.
