The first match of the Road Safety World Series was played between India Legends and West Indies Legends on the 7th of March. India Legends won the toss and elected to bowl first.

West Indies Legends gave a decent batting performance and scored a total of 150 runs losing a total of 8 wickets in 20 overs. Individual performances by Daren Ganga who scored 32 runs in 24 balls and Shivnarine Chandrapaul who scored an impressive 61 runs 41 balls were some decent batting performances. No other batsman from the West Indies Legends could come up with a good performance. The West Indies legend Brian Lara scored a mere 17 runs which was a huge disappointment. Zaheer Khan, Pragyan Ojha and Munaf Patel managed to take 2 wickets each, giving an average bowling performance.

It was India Legends task to chase a 151 run target. The iconic Indian opening duo of Sachin Tendulkar and Virendra Sehwag did not fall short as each of them gave outstanding performances. Sehwag scored a whopping 74 runs in 57 balls hitting 11 boundaries. He showcased the typical ‘Sehwag’ batting style expressing all the old tricks and shots up his sleeve. Sachin scored 36 runs in 29 balls showing a more mature performance as he shared the strike with the in-form Sehwag. People in Mumbai also witnessed a glimpse of the iconic fielders like Mohammad Kaif and Yuvraj Singh fielding as if it was just yesterday that they retired. Zaheer Khan turned up and bowled out Darren Ganga, showing his typical celebration style. He raised his arms to the sides and ran all over the pitch. India Legends comfortably scored 151 runs in just 18.2 overs while losing 3 wickets. The man of the match was awarded to Virendra Sehwag. The match was enjoyed a lot by the crowd at Wankhede.
