Kolkata Knight Riders wins their last group Match - The 18th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 was one of the matches which held no significance regarding the qualification for the semi-final stages. It was a match played between Kolkata Knight Riders and Dolphins. The Knights were already on top of the table and if they lost the match wouldn’t have affected their final position while the Dolphins were already out of the tournament in terms of qualification to the next round. This match was played in the city of Hyderabad. After winning the toss the knights decided to bat first.

The skipper Gautam Gambhir was bowled out by Robbie Frylinck in the 4th over of the match. Gambhir was able to score only 12 runs and left the team at 25/1. Soon the veteran Jacques Kallis too lost his wicket after scoring 6 runs. The problems for Kallis keep on increasing as he fails to find his form. After two quick wickets it was all about youth batting display. Robin Uthappa and Manish Pandey tore apart the bowling attack of the dolphins. Uthappa scored 85 runs in 55 balls hitting 13 boundaries. On the other hand Pandey scored 76 runs of 47 balls hitting 5 6’s in the match. Both these batsmen remained unbeaten and took their team to a score of 187 runs.

The Dolphins needed a good start which they failed in achieving it. The first 2 wickets fell in the first 8 balls of the innings. The Dolphins found themselves in trouble. Later Morne van Wyk and Vaughn van Jaarsveld took their team to a score of 53 in 8 overs. In the last ball of the 8th over Jaarsveld lost his wicket scoring 19 runs and soon van Wyk too followed him after scoring 34 runs. Andile Phehlukwayo came in to bat and scored some quick runs. He scored 37 runs in 18 balls and later lost his wicket to the ball of Sunil Narine. Khaya Zondo too scored 32 runs before losing his wicket to Narine and thus it marked the end of hopes for the Dolphins as the Knights won the match pretty easily. Dolphins scored only 151 runs in 20 overs. Sunil Narine took 3 wickets in the match.

With this win Kolkata Knight Riders won all their 4 group matches. Manish Pandey won the Suzuki Gixxer Power Player award for hitting maximum sixes. Robin Uthappa won the Oppo man of the match. Both the players win USD 2500 as prize money.
