Lahore Lions wins the must win game against Southern Express - The Lahore Lions and the Southern Express faced each other in the 5th qualifying match of the champions league T20. This was the must win match for the Lions to make it to the main league of the tournament. After winning the toss the Southern Express decided to field first. Lahore Lions got a good start as the openers had a partnership of 40 runs in the first 6 overs. In the last ball of the 6th over Umar Siddiq after scoring 18 runs lost his wicket. The second success for the Southern Express came yet again in the form of Ahmed Shehzad. The same over saw the fall of Nasir Jamshed as he lost his wicket after scoring 29 runs. Mohammed Hafeez and Saad Nasim together made sure that their team reached a good score. Hafeez scored 67 runs in 40 balls while Nasim scored 31 runs in 25 balls. These two players took their team to a score of 164 runs. Farveez Maharoof took 3 wickets in the match.

The Southern Express needed to chase this runs to have a chance of reaching but they failed to score runs. The first 6 overs saw the fall of 3 batsmen of the Express. They never got a start and the team seemed to struggle in the game. Tillakaratne Sampath scored 18 runs in the match and was the 3rd player to go. Jehan Mubarak Angelo Perera together tried to control the game but they too failed as Mubarak after scoring 35 runs lost his wicket in the 12th over of the game. It was that time when the team started losing wickets. the whole team was bowled out at a score of 109 runs and hence the lions won the match. Aizaz Cheema took 3 wickets in the game. Mohammad Hafeez was named as the OPPO player of the match for his batting.
