Chris Gayle guides Lions home for their 1st win in the tournament - The 3rd match of the Ram SlamT20 challenge tournament was played between the Lions and the Dolphins. This was the 1st match to be played in the tournament for both the teams and they were looking to start off with a win. The match started off with Dolphins winning the toss and deciding to bat first.

Batting first the openers of the team didn’t start off well as they lost their wicket pretty early without scoring much runs. Morne van Wyk and Cameron Delport failed to score runs and scored 5 and 0 runs respectively. Later Cody Chetty and Vaughn van Jaarsveld together put up a good partnership to bring the team back on track. Jaarsveld after scoring 40 runs in 25 balls lost his wicket in 11th over leaving his team at a score of 98 runs. The middle order failed to contribute but Chetty continued his run with the bat. He scored 68 runs in 44 balls and was helped on by Prenelan Subrayen. They together put up a score of 172 in 20 overs. Chris Gayle was the best bowler in the match as he took 4 wickets giving away 36 runs.

Lions started off their chase pretty badly as they were restricted at a score of 36/3. This fall of wickets seemed to have put the dolphins on the roll but Chris Gayle once again came to be the difference between the two teams. He remained at the crease till the 14th over of the game scoring 56 runs. He was helped on by Jean Symes who remained unbeaten till the end. He scored 58 runs to ensure that the lions crossed the required runs with 7 balls remaining. The Lions were successful in starting of the campaign with a win but failed to gain the bonus point from the match. They ended up winning 4 points from the match. Cody Chetty was named as the best batsman in the match while Chris Gayle was named as the best bowler.
