Maxwell leads Australia to a win in the 2nd ODI - The 2nd ODI between Pakistan and Australia was an essential one for the home side as they needed to win the match in order to remain live in the series as Australia had already won the 1st match in the 3 match series. After winning the toss the Pakistan captain decided to bat first. It was a good decision and the openers Ahmed Shehzad and Sarfraz Ahmed gave them a good start. The pair together took the team to a score of 126 in 25 overs. The first half of the innings was ruled by the batting side but the second half of the innings saw the downfall of the batting order. In just 7 balls the two openers fell. Ahmed Shehzad scored 61 runs and Sarfraz Ahmed scored 65 runs for the team before losing their wicket. Asad Shafiq scored 29 runs before losing his wicket in the 39th over. At his fall the team was struggling at 185/5. The middle order of the home team collapsed and was unable to score runs. The home side was bowled out at a score of 215 runs only. Mitchell Johnson was the top bowler as he took 3 wickets in the match.

The Australians had a pretty low score to chase but they failed to get a good start. The first 2 wickets fell in the 7th over of the match. The team was able to reach a score of 39 only. Aaron Finch and Steven Smith were able to score only 14 and 12 runs respectively. Later David Warner and George Bailey took the team to a total of 72 in just 13 overs. The very 1st ball of the 14th over saw the fall of David Warner who scored only 29 runs. This fall of wicket brought Glenn Maxwell to the crease. He alone changed the face of the game as he scored most of the runs. He scored 76 runs in 81 balls before losing his wicket in the 37th over of the game. Before losing his wicket he took his team to a total of 178 which made game easy for the visitors. The Australians won the match easily with 40 balls remaining. With this win the series was wrapped up by the Australians. Glenn Maxwell was named as the man of the match for his outstanding batting performance. Australians lead the 3 match series by 2-0.
