Mumbai Indians qualify for the play-offs in style - The 19th match of the Champions League saw Perth Scorchers and Mumbai Indians come against each other. This was an important match as a win here for Mumbai will ensure them a place in the play-offs. After winning the toss the IPL champions decided to field first. The Scorchers got a good start from their openers as they scored 55 runs for the 1st wicket but it was scored slowly in 9.2 overs. Soon in the 10th over the team saw fall of 2 wickets and that brought the team under pressure. Hilton Cartwright and Sam Whiteman helped the team to recover as they played some sensible cricket. Cartwright scored 28 runs and lost his wicket in the 16ht over leaving his team at a score of 114/3. After this wickets kept on falling as no player was able to bat well. Whiteman was the only batsman who scored 51 runs and took his team to a total of 149 in 20 overs. Nathan Coulter-Nile was the best bowler who took 3 wickets in the match giving away only 19 runs.

The Mumbai Indians lost the wicket of Sachin Tendulkar and Glenn Maxwell early but the main hero of this match was Darren Smith and Rohit Sharma. Both the batsmen showed some great hitting power and scored runs easily for the team. Smith scored 48 runs while Sharma scored 51 runs to take their team closer to victory. The game was finished by Kieron Pollard and Ambati Raydu scoring 23 and 14 respectively. The target of 150 was achieved in 13.2 overs and thus Mumbai not only won the math but also qualified for the play-offs. Rohit Sharma was named as the man of the match for his brilliant captaincy and batting.
