So, finally CPLt20 kicks off with the first match being
played at the Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, Barbados. Barbados tridents won the
toss and elected to bat first.
Winner: Barbados trident- by 17 runs.
Man of the match: Shoaib Malik
The starting for the Barbados trident was very bad and they
lost wickets in quick succession. And at one point of time they were at 48/4
with 7 over bowled. But then Shoaib Malik and Kieran Pollard great knock,
steered the trident out of the troubled waters. Both of them scored 78 and 61
runs respectively. From St. Lucia Zouks ‘Darren Sammy’ did bowl some good over
and took 2 wickets. So finally 170 was the target that Zouks needed to score to
win this game.
As compare to the tridents, Zouks had a great start, with
Tamim Iqbal and Andre Fletcher scoring 22 and 57 runs respectively. But their efforts
gone in vain as other players were not able to hold back the line once their
wicket fell. In the end they just mange to score 152 runs. For Tridents,
Pollard was the star bowler as he took 3 wickets and that too with 15 runs he
gave while bowling.
As far as performance of both the teams is concerned,
Tridents trembled in the initial but got off a great start after that, but on
the other side Zouks got good initial start but could not hold it back. Now hoping
to see more fun and excitement in the next game.
