Wayamba United Cricket Team

Wayamba United is a first class domestic cricket team for Sri Lankan Premier League formed for the basic idea of twenty20 format. It is one of the other seven teams and represents North Western Province in the tournament. The team is considered to be the most expensive team of Sri Lankan Premier League having been purchased with the highest bid of $5.02 million for the next seven years. The team is owned by Wadhawan Holdings Private Limited and possesses Welegedara Stadium as their home ground. The team has also featured in Champions League Twenty20 in 2009 and 2010 editions as Wayamba Elevens. The team is captained by Mahela Jayawardena.
