The 58th T20 Qualifier match of the KFC Big Bash League was fought between Sydney Sixers and Perth Scorchers at Manuka Oval, Canberra on 30 Jan 2021. Perth Scorchers went for the bat first after winning the toss. Jason Roy and Liam Livingstone were sent as opening batsmen for Perth. Ben Dwarshuis got the new ball to deliver the first over.

The Scorchers did not get a good start and lost Jason Roy very early at the score of 5 runs only in 2.1 overs. Jason could make only 3 runs off 9 balls and he was caught & bowled by Abbott. Colin Munro came to join Living Stone but Liam Livingstone could not stay longer and lost his wicket at 39 runs in 5.4 overs. Josh Inglis at the number 4 position tried to handle the situation and played an excellent inning of unbeaten 69 runs from 41 balls. But no batsmen except Inglis could perform well and finally, Perth had put a score of 167 runs on the board. Sydney Sixers needed 168 runs in 120 balls to confirm the ticket to the final.

Josh Philippe and James Vince were sent to chase the target. Jhye Richardson got the new ball to open attack for the Scorchers. But Philippe and Vince both played superbly without any pressure and had scored 43 runs with no loss at the end of the first mandatory Powerplay. Perth got the first breakthrough of Philippe at 92 runs. On the other hand, Vince was showing great talent and that helped the Sixers to add the first 100 runs on the scoreboard at just 9.3 overs. Vince played an excellent and match-winning inning of unbeaten 98 runs that helped Sydney to achieve the target in just 17 overs. Sydney Sixers confirmed their entry to the final of Big Bash League 2020-21 after winning the BBL Qualifier.
