The 9th match of the CPL 2020 was played between Trinbago Knight Riders and Barbados Tridents on August 23, Sunday at Brian Lara Stadium, Tarouba, Trinidad. Barbados Tridents captain Jason Holder won the toss and elected to field first.

Both the openers Lendl Simmons and Sunil Narine got out early of the inning. Colin Munro played a beautiful inning of 50 runs in just 30 balls and maintained the score board. Captain Pollard and experienced Darren Bravo made a brilliant partnership of not out 98 runs. They both played good cricket and helped Trinbago team to put a good total on board. Darren Bravo scored not out 54 runs in just 36 balls and captain Pollard gave the finishing touch to team by making brilliant not out 41 runs in just 17 balls. Trinbago Knight Riders scored 185 runs with the loss of 3 wickets in its 20 over. Ashley Nurse was the best economic bowler for Barbados Tridents. He took 1 wicket and gave only 20 runs in his 4 over.

It was a huge total to chase for Barbados. Johnson Charles and Shai Hope opened inning for Barbados Tridents and gave a perfect start to team. They made an opening partnership of 68 runs. Johnson Charles scored 52 runs in just 33 balls and Shai Hope also made 36 runs. Corey Anderson got run out. Captain Holder also showed good shots and made not out 34 runs in just 19 balls while Ashley Nurse also made 21 runs in 12 balls but Barbados Tridents left 20 runs short to target.

Trinbago Knight Riders won the game by 19 runs. The spin bowlers of Trinbago bowled brilliantly and helped team to defend the target. It was the third consecutive victory for Trinbago Knight Riders. Colin Munro was selected as player of the match for his brilliant performance.
