England vs Australia T20 Series 2020


The 3 match T20 International series was played between England and Australia on September of 2020 in England. Both the teams played good cricket but the host England won the series by 2-0. Australian team was captained by Aaron Finch and Eoin Morgan was the captain of host England but in the last match M Ali captained the English team. All the three games were played at same stadium without any viewers.

The 1st match of the series was held on September 4, Friday at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. Australian captain Aaron Finch won the toss and elected to bowl first. English opener wicket- keeper batsman Jos Buttler gave good start to team and made 44 runs in just 29 balls. David Malan played beautiful inning and played good cricket. He made 66 runs and helped England to score a fighting total. Morgan got out early on 5 runs in this match. But he made it for England with his brilliant captaincy. Australia was very close to victory but he gave ball to his strike bowlers and opened the gates of victory for England. He gave ball to Adil Rashid and Rashid took 2 important wickets in 1 over and changed the dynamics of game. England won the 1 st game of the series by just 2 runs. David Malan was selected as player of the match for his brilliant batting performance. With victory, England took an early lead in the series.

The 2nd match of the series was held on September 6, Sunday at same venue. Australian captain Finch won the toss again but chose to bat first this time. David Warner got out on duck to J Archer and the Australian batting collapsed in the match. Captain Finch made 40 runs and Marcus Stoinis made 35 runs. Maxwell also showed some big shots but could score 26 runs only. A Agar and Pat Cummins finished the inning for Australia. Australia made 157 runs in their 20 over. Jos Buttler again showed his class and showed why he is considered as a destructible T20 batsman. He played not out match winning inning for England. He made not out 77 runs and finished the game for England. David Malan also contributed 42 runs in England victory. England won the match by 6 wickets and sealed the series. Jos Buttler was player of the match in 2 nd game.

The 3rd or last match of the series was played on September 8, Tuesday at The Southampton. England gave chance to their bench players and M Ali captained the English team in this match. Australian skipper Finch won the toss and chose to field first. Jonny Bairstow played brilliantly and made half century. He scored 55 runs and helped England to have a total of 145 runs. Australian team struggled little bit but Mitchell Marsh finished the game for Australia. He made not out 39 runs and made it possible for Australia. He was selected as player of the match in 3 rd game.

England won the series by 2-1. Jos Buttler was selected as player of the series.
