Jean Paul Duminy, better known as JP Duminy is a professional cricketer of South Africa. He is a top order left-handed batsman, but occasionally bowls right-arm off spin. He was born on April 14, 1984 at Strandfontein in Cape Town. Duminy belongs to the ethnic group Cape Coloured and he spent his childhood in the Western Cape. The Cape Coloured ethnic group of South Africa comprises of people belonging to mixed race. He also has earned good fame in the domestic cricket and plays for Cape Cobras. He currently plays for the Delhi Daredevils in IPL. He came to the limelight during the Under-19 tour of South Africa to England. He made his ODI debut in 2004 but had to wait for 4 more years to make his Test debut. He was selected as a replacement for the injured Ashwell Prince which was a turning point in his career.
