What a big name in the game of cricket? Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting.

No one would have ever imagined both the legends would play together for the same team. Thanks to IPL 6 and their franchise to have brought them together. Ponting is currently leading Mumbai Indian in IPL 6.

This IPL is a T20 format and even if someone who would have dreamt of them playing together would have never had dreamt that they would open the innings in this quite format.

What currently is hurting Mumbai Indians is that Sachin Tendulkar and Ricky Ponting both are not in best of their forms and more importantly this format have never been their area of expertise. Franchise may be getting full house audiences at home ground or more TRPs but this is hurting their game. Mumbai Indians have never capitalised in the first six of their batting powerplays and the entire responsibility has rested on the shoulders of Dines Karthik, Rohit Sharma and Pollard.

Now because Dinesh Kathik has been in great form with one of the contenders of Orange Cap, it is not too far that opening woes of Mumbai Indians might get exposed and other teams would start taking an advantage to it. It cannot be that every time Pollard can bring them victorious.
Mumbai Indians have already faced the biggest defeat of the season so far in terms of runs which is 87 against Rajasthan Royals. Mumbai Indians have played 5 games so far in this season and score of Ponting stands like 28, 6, 0, 14 and 4 while on the other hand Tendulkar has scored 23, 0, 1, 44, 1 so far. Both of them have struggled to score runs at required pace in this format. In the latest interview after that heavy and big loss, Ricky Ponting has said that there would be a few changes in the team as well. What will be the changes? Any guesses.   • Will the million dollar baby Maxwell will be given a chance or will he keep warming benches?

I prefer Ponting to bat down the order for MI. Dwayne Smith is a good move by the MI.

@jeevan vas: Looks like you missed out the last match which Mumbai Indians played. They opened up with Tendulkar and Smith where Smith failed to contribute much and Tendulkar's stay at the crease was much more than what his fans would have expected. He scored 50 at low strike rate and as a result team could not pose a strong total which was easily chased by Delhi Daredevils.
Management isn't putting too much brain behind playing XI. Maxwell is just the best choice but he is still warming the bench for Mumbai Indians in IPL 6.
Don't know when will the guy get a break and he will get an opportunity to prove his worth millions.
Time for a change in opening pair and sack at least Tendulkar or Ponting if they really want to win IPL 6 Trophy.

I don't no what went wrong with Ponting. He is a class player and needs to comments from people. But still he should strive better for playing good in the upcoming matches. He did right by not playing in the Mumbai version Balgore match.

And see, how good Mumbai performed. He has lead  Australian for many years and he knows what to do and when to do. Give him some time and he will surely come strong.

On the other hand sachin is something you cannot stop. In this age also he plays better then any other player in the tournament. We should not forget the number of runs he scored in the last tournament, plus century too.

@skyshot: Looks like you are very happy living in the past. Why do you keep growing? I reckon that you should have stopped growing and should have been stuck in 90s and you should have kept watching only one guy play.
You say he is still better than any other player, man Amit Mishra is batting better than him these days and scoring runs too. Amit Mishra is picking up hat-tricks even and diving every where in the field.
Ponting had the courage to drop himself bacause he knew he can make way for someone who is young and can perform but Sachin Tendulkar is not that great enough. He is of the view that if he drops himself for someone, people will expect him to drop again and again for his non performance and what if the guy who replaced him clicks, He will never get an opportunity to come back again.

Off 20 years of play of cricket, I have only saw 10 years (As I am still a teen). But whatever I have seen is mere more then Big Bang.

And please it would be better if you let this 'Sachin Phobhia' off your hook. And let's utilize this conversation for more constructable thoughts, because what has been done, is done.

Of course, you got the point correct. This is what I was making you understand. What is done is done. No point in talking about those past things.
Lets concentrate on how well Dhoni and Gayle is hitting those sixes and how big instead of those crappy past events.
What a waste of time that we are still talking about those past events, isn't it?

yeah ofcourse. What has been done is done, But i like discussion that are really having grey metter in them.

After 2007  world cup i never like watched cricket of those top 10 teams. Ireland and Bangladesh cricket is what fascinates me and I enjoy it. May little weird, but that the way i love the cricket.

I am there to handle IPL and other International matches. :P
And when u think what is done is done, do not concentrate on it more. Look for what's happening and what will happen.

As far as I think playing both Tendulkar and Ponting in T20 format in the same team was hurting Mumbai Indians a lot and Ponting being more clever out of the two realised it quickly and dropped himself.

Tendulkar has not yet showed that why he should be pertained and better I know him is that he will continue playing and will not give a chance to others to prove even if he doesn't perform.

It was Smith on top of the order who got a great start for Mumbai Indians and helped finish the game with positive results for Mumbai Indians or else Mumbai would have been at the same place as Kolkata is currently.

It looks like that very few players is contributing for the team and few of them are contributing only their name.
