New Zealand continue their winning streak against Afghanistan - The 31st match of the World Cup 2015 was played between New Zealand and Afghanistan. Both the teams based on current format were of no match when compared according to the current form of the teams in the World Cup. New Zealand dominated every team in the cup while Afghanistan was the ones that were dominated by all. In this match Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat first.

As thought Afghanistan openers failed to get a good start as Javed Ahmadi and Usman Ghani lost their wicket after scoring 1 and 0 runs respectively. Asghar Stanikzai too lost his wicket after scoring only 9 runs. Nawroz Mangal and Samiullah Shenwari scored 27 and 54 runs respectively. They had a small partnership between them but soon they lost the wicket and the team was once again in trouble apart from them Najibullah Zadran was the only batsman who scored 56 runs to take his team to a score of 186 runs before getting all-out. Daniel Vettori took 4 wickets while Tim Boult took 3 wickets in this match.

New Zealand chasing the score of 187 runs started their innings well as Martin Guptill and Brendan McCullum together started off the innings well. McCullum scored 42 runs on 19 balls before losing his wicket. In the 6th over McCullum lost his wicket at a score of 53/1. Kane Williamson partnered Guptill and they together tool the team to a score of 111 runs. Guptill scored 57 runs before losing the wicket while Williamson scored 33 runs before losing the wicket. Ross Taylor scored an unbeaten 24 runs and with this the New Zealanders won their 5th consecutive match to top the Pool A with 10 points. Daniel Vettori was named as the man of the match.
