The fourteenth match of
IPL T20 2008 was played at DY Patil Sports academy, Mumbai. The opposing teams were Mumbai Indians and Deccan Chargers on 27th of April. The toss was won by Deccan Chargers team, who they chose to field first. Luke Ronchi and Sanath Jayasuriya gave a robust start up with 5 fours, but none of them lasted for long. Ajinkya Rahane stayed on field for 7 minutes and got dismissed without scoring any runs. It looked like the scoreboard was dwindling without any good contribution. But Shaun Pollock, Abhishek Nayar and Dwayne Bravo contributed a total of 99 runs in 68 balls taking the score to 154 runs with fall of 7 wickets. RP Singh took 2 wickets giving a low economy rate of 3.75. Sanjay Bangar and Shahid Afridi also took 2 wickets each.
Deccan Chargers batting was on track Adam Gilchrist and VVS Laxman. To content of everyone, they both sent the ball across boundary line in superb hard hitting and fast scoring. 9 fours with 10 sixes from Adam Gilchrist and 4 fours plus 1 six from Laxman took score for DC team at 12.91 runs per over. Both of them stayed not out on pitch and with high strike rates of 231.91 by Gilchrist and 142.3 by Laxman, Deccan Charges won the match in 12 overs, finishing it in first hour of second innings itself! Shaun Pollock could not stop the runs and gave away runs at 16.5 economy while Abhishek Nayar gave 22 runs in his one over of bowling. Dwayne Bravo also could not control the charge of DC team.Adam Gilchrist was declared as Man of Match.
