This was the first match played in the IPL Tweny20 series. It was in between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders and being played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium at Bangalore on 18th April 2008. It was a day night match. Sourav Ganguly (Bengal Tiger!) was leading Kolkata Knight Riders while Rahul Dravid was captain for Royal Challengers Bangalore team. The Royal Challengers Bangalore had won the toss and chose to field in the first innings.
 
The first batting by Kolkata Knight riders was like shooting guns and the ball flying all over the field with top score by Brendon McCullum of 158 Runs in 73 balls. Super strike rate of 216.43! From the Royal Challenger Bowlers Zaheer Khan, AA Noffke, JH Kallis took a wicket each but gave a high economic rates. The first innings averages at 11.10 runs per over.
 
With a huge responsibility of 223 runs to win in 20 overs Rahul Dravid with Wasim Jaffer opened the batting only to fare very poorly. The wall in Rahul Dravid crumbled down quickly with 2 runs in 3 balls by getting bold out by Ishant Sharma. One by one the whole team of RCB was all down in 15.1 overs and could bring up their score to only 82 runs with none of their batsmen staying on the pitch and falling like pins to the balling of the KKR!
 
Ajit Agarkar took the most to the stumps with 3 wickets to claim giving an economy of just 6.25. He was followed by AB Dhinda with 2 wickets and economy of 3 and Sourav Ganguly Da giving only 5.25 and grabbing 2 wickets.
 
With the stunning win by KKR, Brendon McCullum was declared as the Man of the Match for his thunder batting and good work across the field
 
Kolkata Knight Riders had won the match by 220 runs.
