The 9th T20 match of the Pakistan Super League was fought between Karachi Kings and Multan Sultans at the National Stadium, Karachi on 27 Feb 2021. The Kings won the toss and invited the opposition to bat first. Mohammad Rizwan and Chris Lynn were sent on the crease to open and Imad Wasim got the new ball in hand.

Both the openers of Multan gave a very good start and had made the opening partnership of 53 runs. The Kings got the first breakthrough of Chris Lynn in 4.2 overs by Imad Wasim. After the dismissal, James Vince came to join the captain, and both the team had made 72 runs at the end of mandatory Powerplay. The Sultans did not come under pressure after losing Lynn and maintained the run rate. Finally, Rizwan, Vince, and Sohaib Maqsood performed nicely and had put a total of 195 runs on the scoreboard. Karachi got the challenging target of 196 runs from 120 balls to win the 9th match of PSL 2021.

Sharjeel Khan and Babar Azam came out to the middle to chase the target and Sohail Khan got the new ball to open the attack. Both the opener gave a good start to the Kings and had made the opening partnership of 56 runs but the Kings lost Sharjeel Khan in 4.5 overs. After the dismissal, Joe Clarke came out to the crease and played a wonderful inning of 54 runs with Babar Azam. Both had built up the first wicket partnership of 97 runs that helped the team to achieve its goal in 18.5 overs. Babar Azam played a match-winning and unbeaten inning of 90 runs for his team. James Vince played an important inning of 45 runs and Rizwan also contributed 43 runs for his team. Karachi Kings registered the second victory in the 6th session of PSL 2021.

Karachi Kings won the 9th match of PSL 2021 by 7 wickets with 7 balls remaining and Babar Azam was named the Man of the Match.
