National Stadium

Situated in Pakistan’s largest city Karachi, National Stadium is the second biggest stadium in the country. It was founded on April 21, 1955. The stadium holds a sizeable capacity of 34,228 spectators. National Stadium is owned by PCB and operated by Sindh Cricket Association.

Interestingly, National Stadium has had been the witness to a wealth of phenomenal events in the history of both national and world cricket. The stadium is claimed to be lucky for Pakistan national cricket team as they have lost only 2 matches in 40 matches (Test) played. This is also the stadium where Sir Viv Richards score his legendary 181 against (in ODI) Sri Lanka back in 1987 World Cup. Two iconic names of world cricket, WaqarYounis and Sachin Tendulkar had their test debut in National Stadium.

The stadium had its first Test match on February 26, 1956; first ODI on November 21, 1980; and first T20 on April 20, 2008. National Stadium is one of the major stadiums in Pakistan Super League 2020 and will host the inaugural match. It is the home turf of Karachi Kings.
