The 5th T20 decider match of the India vs England 2021 series was played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad on 20 March 2021. KL Rahul was out of the playing XI because of his flop show in the last 4 matches and T Natarajan was included in the team. The England team walked out with their unchanged playing 11. England won the toss and decided to have the ball in hand first. Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli came out to the middle and Adil Rashid got the new ball in hand to open the attack.

India got a nice start and had made the first 50 runs from 5.2 over at almost 10 runs per over. At the end of the first Powerplay, India had scored 60 runs at the run rate of 10 runs per over. England captain, Morgan, was a bit worried and wanted to break the partnership but the Indian openers were looking in good form. England got the first breakthrough of Rohit Sharma in 8.6 overs. He was bowled by Ben Stokes at the score of 94 runs. Rohit and Virat had made 1st wicket partnership of 94 runs and had laid a good foundation for a big total. After the dismissal, Suryakumar Yadav came out to the middle and took charge from the starting. He played some great shots and made 32 runs quickly off 17 balls but could not stay longer and was sent back by Rashid in 13.2 overs. After the dismissal, Hardik Pandya came to join Virat Kohli and he supported Kohli very well and also contributed unbeaten 39 runs from just 17 balls. Kohli played a captaincy inning of unbeaten 80 runs from 52 balls with seven 4s and two 6s. India had put a defending total of 224 runs on the scoreboard. 224 was the third-highest T20 International score made by the Indian team at home. England got the target of 225 runs to win the match and series.

Jason Roy and Jos Buttler were sent to the crease to chase the target and Bhuvneshwar Kumar got the new ball in hand. England lost the first wicket very soon and Jason Roy was clean bowled by Bhuvneshwar in the swing bowl at 0 runs. Dawid Malan came to join Butler and started attacking the Indian bowlers from the beginning. Both the batsmen handled the situation very well and maintained the run rate near to the required run rate and scored 62 runs at the end of the Powerplay at the loss of 1 wicket only. England got a wonderful start despite 1 early wicket and completed the 2nd wicket partnership of 100 runs off 58 balls. Afterward, both the batsmen completed their fifty, Malan made fifty from 33 balls, and Butler from 29 balls. Also, Malan completed his 1000 runs in T20 International. Bhuvi got the second much-needed breakthrough of Buttler in 12.5 overs for India. Afterward, Jonny Bairstow came to the crease to support Dawid Malan in the chase but could not stay longer and was sent back by Shardul Thakur. Shardul did the fabulous job and took the wicket of dangerous-looking Dawid Malan in the same over. After the dismissal of Dawid Malan, the wickets started falling at the regular interval and England could reach 188 runs in 20 overs and lost the match by 36 runs. Finally, India won the Ind vs Eng series 2021 T20I series by 3-2.

India won the 5th T20I match of Ind vs Eng series 2021 by 36 runs and lifted the trophy by 3-2 wins. Bhuvneshwar Kumar was named Man of the Match and Virat Kohli was awarded Man of the series.
