The 59th match of IPL 2020 was an eliminator match played between Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad on 8th October at Sheikh Zayed Stadium where DC won the toss and chose to bat first. SRH was captained by David Warner while DC was led by Shreyas Iyer. It was an important match for both teams as the winner of the match can enter the final match of the tournament.

Batting first the inning of Delhi Capitals was opened by Marcus Stoinis and Shikhar Dhawan. They gave an excellent start to the team as Stoinis fired like anything. They made a partnership of 86 runs. In the 9th over Stoinis got out at an individual score of 38 runs. Dhawan was joined by Shreyas Iyer, and they both carried the inning ahead but in the 14th over Iyer got out. Shimron Hetmyer joined Dhawan, and they both played amazing shots across the ground. Dhawan completed his half-century also. In the 19th over Dhawan got out at an individual score of 78 runs and Rishabh Pant joined Hetmyer. At the end of 20 overs, DC could make 189 at a loss of 3 wickets. Hetmyer made not out 42 runs in 22 balls. From SRH Sandeep Sharma, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan each got one wicket. To win the match SRH needed to make 190 runs in 20 overs.

To chase the score David Warner and Priaym Garg opened the inning of Sunrisers Hyderbad, but they failed to give a good start to the team. In the 2nd over Warner got out. In the 5th over Priyam Garg also got out and the score of SRH was 43/2. Manish Pandey and Kane Williamson tried to balance the inning and played some quality cricket. In the 5th over Pandey also got out at an individual score of 21 runs. However, Kane Williamson carried the inning ahead with best of his shots. He was joined by Jason Holder but in the 12th over Holder also returned to the pavilion. Abdul Samad joined Williamson and tried to keep the scoreboard moving. In the 17th over with the fall of Williamson's wicket, the expectation of SRH winning came to an end. Abdul Samad made 33 runs, but no other batsmen could sustain and hence at the end of 20 overs the inning of SRH ended with 172 runs at a loss of 8 wickets. DC won the match by 17 runs. From DC Kagiso Rabada was the most successful bowler with 4 wickets. The player of the match was awarded to Marcus Stionis who played an excellent inning of 38 runs and also got 3 wickets in his spell of 3 overs giving 26 runs.  DC reached the final of the tournament where it will counter MI.
