Rangana Herath script a win for the team with fabulous bowling - Sri Lanka and Pakistan met in the second test match of the test series. The home side won the 1st match and the led the series by 1-0. This match was an important one for the Pakistan side in order to equal the series. It was also the last series for Mahaela Jayawardene and the home side wanted to gift the super cricketer with a perfect gift. After winning the toss home side decided to bat first.

On day 1 the home side looked stronger as the openers made a great start. Upul Tharanga and Kaushal Silva gave the team a good start. The opening partnership was worth 79 runs and Silva after scoring 41 runs lost his wicket. Kumar Sangakkara hung in for some time on the 1st day but yet again lost his wicket leaving his team to a score of 144/2, Mahaela Jayawardene failed to do much as he lost his wicket after scoring only 4 wickets. The 2nd session of the game was a good one for the visitors as they made a good comeback in the match. Angelo Mathews and Tharanga made a good comeback in the game as they controlled the innings for the home side. Tharanga after scoring 92 runs lost his wicket leaving his team at 177/4. This opened the gates for the visitors and took 4 more wickets before the end of day. The Home side was at 261/8.

Just before on lunch at day 2 the Sri Lankans were all out at a score of 320 runs. Junaid khan was the top bowler for the visitors as he took 5 wickets in the innings. At lunch the Pakistan cricket team stood at 47/1. Later the team managed to score more in the game. The top order batsmen provided them the much required cushion of runs. The visitors ended their day at 244/6.

On day 3 the visitors were bowled out by the home team at a score of 332 runs. Sarfraz Ahmed was the top scorer for the team as he scored 103 runs in the 1st innings. Rangana Herath was the top bowler for the team as he took 9 wickets in an innings. On this day the home side made a great grip on the match. The day ended up at 177/2 for the Sri Lanka. Upul Tharanga scored 45 runs in the innings which helped the team to gain momentum in the match.

On the 4th day of the game Kumar Sangakkara scored 59 runs while Mahaela Jayawardene scored 54 runs in the innings. Angelo Mathews scored 43 runs in the innings which together took the team to a score of 282 runs setting up a target of 271 runs for the visitors. By the end of the fourth day the victory for the home side was quiet eminent for them. The Pakistan team ended up their day at 127/7.

The 5th day was just a formality as the visitors were bowled out at a score of 165 runs. Rangana Herath took 5 wickets in this innings thus winning the series for the team by 2-0. He was named as the man of the match for taking 14 wickets in the game.
