Just after the completion of IPL 2022, the West Indies players are going to be engaged in the 3 ODI series with the Netherlands. The governing bodies of both West Indies and the Netherlands have confirmed that the Windies will travel to the Netherlands in order to play 3 ODI matches. Netherlands vs West Indies ODI series 2022 will start on 31st May and conclude on 4th June 2022.
This will be the very first time that the West Indies and Netherland will face each other in a bilateral series between both of them. Since the ODI series between Netherlands and West Indies is an integral component of the ICC ODI Super league, both teams can improve their ranking in the list for ICC World Cup 2023.
All the matches of the ODI series will be played at the same venue i.e, VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen. The first match will be held on 31st May, then 2nd will be on 2 June and the series will come to an end with the 3rd match on 4th June 2022 at VRA Cricket Ground, Amstelveen. The tour is not so long but it would be interesting to watch when West Indies and the Netherlands face each other for their maiden ODI series between them on the Netherlands land.
Most probably, Kieron Pollard will take command of the West Indies ODI squad for the tour and the Netherlands squad will fight under the leadership of Pieter Seelaar. Currently, West Indies is at the number 9th position in the ICC team ranking 2022 and the Netherlands is listed at the 11th position. So, this series will be significant for both the teams from the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 perspective.
The Netherlands has never been able to win against the West Indies. There were 2 occasions when both the teams faced each other and both times, the Windies defeated the Netherlands. Overall, the Netherlands has got victories in the 34 ODI competitions out of 86 with a winning percentage of 42.07 whereas West Indies has achieved victory in 406 ODI matches out of their 837 matches with a winning percentage of 50.92. So it would be exciting and thrilling for the Netherlands cricket fans to welcome the West Indies and watch them playing on their Dutch land.
