The Asia Cup 2014 is hosted by Bangladesh making it repeat the previous location as the 2012 Asia Cup was held at Bangladesh. The tournament will extend from 25 February to 8 March with eleven matches scheduled to be played in Mirpur and Fatullah and teams from five nations competing for it. The Bangladeshi and Afghan teams will play the fifth match of this tournament. It will be the second match the Afghans would be playing in this tournament the first one being against Pakistan. The Afghanistan cricket team is the new entrant to this tournament. It would be their debut this year. The Bangladesh on the other hand had put up some real good show in the last Asia Cup tournament reaching the finals. The Bangladeshi side gave the Pakistanis a tough fight, not relenting easily, only to lose by two runs. Some good game is expected from them this time too owing to their improved performance in one day international games. With the Afghanistan taking positive steps towards rise of cricket in the country its participation in the2014 Asia Cup is a good boost to their cricketing endeavours. Not to forget the mention of their World Cup qualification which is again a great step for them.
