Poor Umpiring in IPL

As I say it, I also feel sorry for Kings XI Punjab who were on the verge of chasing a mssive total successfully against Mumbai Indians but failed.

It is clearly evident that few of the blunders have already been done by the Umpires and when people are criticizing you, you must try to improve and not fall below par. Asad Rauf gifted Rohit Sharma the match against Kings XI Punjab as his birthday gift. In the last over when moments were crucial and 11 runs were needed of just 3 balls and one wicket left, Praveen Kumar was facing Kulkarni. Kulkarni bowled an absolute beamer which was chest height but Asad Rauf ruled it not a no-ball.

Praveen Kumar smoked the 5th ball of the over for a six bringing the equation down to 5 runs needed in just 1 ball.

Kulkarni again bowled a full toss  which Praveen hit straight at point and was dismissed. This ball was always ok with the naked eye but Asad Rauf called third umpire to check this one and ruled Praveen Out later.

This was an absolute display of poor umpiring where Asad Rauf could have called third umpire in the 4th ball and then the game could have been different.

Though I didn't watch this match but heard a lot of people criticizing the wrong decision of the umpire.
I am of the view that Umpire might have gone there with that no-ball (again I am just going by what I have read in newspaper and articles on internet), I feel that 1-2 error may occur sometimes after all Asad Rauf is a human too and in cricket it is likely to happen. Because that happened at a very critical moment, it came into more of a lime light.
I feel that there were lot of turning points in this match.
1. Last over of the first innings where MI were 147 for the loss of 4 wickets and only one over to go. David Hussey came on to bowl and went on for plenty and score took a toll to 174.
2. K Pollard taking that brilliant one handed catch again at long off to dismiss Shaun Marsh who was playing his first IPL match of this tournament.
3. Of course the topic of discussion, the no-ball that should have been called but Asad Rauf didn't.

Not to forget umpire decision on field is his last decision until he chooses on his own to overturn it. We have t0 abide by it.

So many games and constant pressure, is what hurting the umpires the most. Already there are so many umpires busy with international matches. The lack of training is the prime reason why there is so much lack in the quality.

Empire like billy bowdon or David sheperd are surely something that we are missing here. I always accuse too many matches, responsible for these glitches.

Billy Bowden is a perfect umpire for a league tornament of status as big as IPL.

He enjoys umpiring and it is good to see him making tough decisions on his own without going for third umpires. He is a strict umpire and a great observer of minute details happening around him.

He holds the capability to step in between players as well if there is some dispute going on which might lead to war of words.

His signalling of fours and sixes is amazingly great and over all enjoyed by every spectators.

Simon Tafuel is currently present in IPL 6 tournament but his alone presence will not have a major impact because he can be the front umpire for only a maximum of 10 overs and there is always a chance that other umpire may commit a blunder which might also cause the other team a game. Asad Rauf was definitely the reason according to me for the loss of Kings XI Punjab in yesterday match against Mumbai Indians.

It was clear no ball and the ball was above the waist height not by an inch or two but by a feet which cannot be missed out in any chance.

Even if it was missed, when Praveen Kumar asked the umpire, they should have gone up stairs to the third umpire as they did in the last ball.

If the 4th ball of the last over was ruled a no ball, result of the match could have been quite different for sure.
