So today is the clash between Kings XI Punjab and defending Champions Kolkata Knight Riders.
Punjab has won 4 out of 7 matches that they have played and Kolkata has won only 2 out of 7 played. As per team on paper and filed, Kolkata has not yet boasted of results irrespective of world class players.
It is not that Kolkata has played in this IPL season but the thing is that they are not able to capitalize their good start or good session of bowling.
They have played good cricket but in the end, they lost momentum in most of the games and lost it.
Punjab is currently going good in spite of failure from Adam Gilchrist in all 7 matches and still he has been retained in the team for today's game. Punjab has some fire power in batting line as well they boast of few good bowlers as well.
Likes of David Hussey, Azhar Mahmood along with in form batsmen David Miller cannot be just ignored.
Piyush Chawla as their main spinner who can chip in with bat as well.
Praveen Kumar has very well handled the attack with new ball and has been continuously providing Punjab needed breakthroughs whenever needed.
This will indeed be a great contest to watch out.

News from the center is that Kings XI Punjab has won the toss and elected to bat first.
Gilchrist opens up with Mandeep Singh again today and for the first time, the entire bunch of top orders contributed from Punjab side. Each of them getting some runs for the team but none of them could score big individual scores.
Gilchrist scored 27 off 27 balls (4 boundaries) , Mandeep Singh scored 25 off 20 balls (5 boundaries), Vohra scored 31 off just 21 balls (3 boundaries and 1 six), Hussey 21 off 20 balls.... In the end Gurkeerat Singh played a little cameo of 28 runs in just 15 balls which included 2 boundaries and 2 sixes.
At one stage it looked like 160 was very much achieveable but again then with some superb bowling KKR bounced back and 135 was looking terrible. But some brilliant batting by Gurkeerat took them to 149 and now Punjab has a decent total on board to defend it and make it to the top 4 in the point table.
Gautam Gambhir was very furious at Balaji who went for 18 runs in his last over, so much so that he went toill the dugout fuming and speaking to himself.
That;s not at all a good sign of good sportsmanship. You just can't foul mouth your team mates, bro.
Can KKR chase this down?
If not, their stay in the tournament and making for the playoffs will really get very difficult, I must say.

KKR will be chasing a good score of 150 on a pitch which gets slower and scoring runs will get difficult in later stage of the game but they have strong batting line up.
Gautam Gambhir and Bisla are in the center, so Yusuf Pathan misses the opening slot finally.
Start for Kolkata wasn't good and they lost Gambhir when he was in single figure only.
Yusuf Pathan was given the third slot and he failed to utilize the opportunity again and was caught behind first ball.
Azhar Mahmood picked up 2 wickets in his first over and pressure was on Kolkata. But Kallis came in at number 4 and scored 27 runs in just 33 balls to ease some pressure.
Bisla and Eoin Morgan carried it forward from their easily hitting one or two boundaries every over and brought Kolkata victorious.
Bisla scored half century and remained unbeaten.
So finally Punjab has 8 points with 4 wins in 8 games and Kolkata has 6 points with 3 wins in 8 games.
Still the tournament is half way to go and there might be a few upsets soon.
But this was really a good game all around if you ignore that foul mouth by Gambhir to Balaji.
Kallis was given the man f the match award for his brilliant contribution with the ball and needed contribution with the bat as well.
