Bay Oval is one of the finest cricket grounds of New Zealand located in the Mount Maunganui region. It was established in the year 1987 when the first match was played in this stadium. This stadium is also called as Blake Park and the first match was scheduled between Central Districts and Northern Districts in 1988-1989. Though the stadium was small but it became very popular in a small amount of time. Many list A matches were played here with the cricket lovers pouring in large numbers to enjoy the respective matches. Later on the popularity of the stadium increased to such a level that it was difficult to manage the crowd with lots of people coming to witness the live performances. So the stadium was extended to increase the seating capacity for the upcoming series. Apart from the individual matches, several league matches as well as the series have been hosted by New Zealand and many countries have come here. The stadium has also received the acceptance to hold a first class cricket matches thus expanding its popularity.
