Bangladesh registers their 1st series win against Pakistan riding on Iqbal’s ton - The 2nd ODI match between Bangladesh and Pakistan was played in the Sher e Bangla stadium. This was an important fixture for the touring teams as Bangladesh had already won the 1st ODI and a win here would have meant a series win for them. After winning the toss Pakistan decided to bat first.

The Pakistan side failed to use the advantage as they lost Sarfraz Ahmed and Mohammad Hafeez cheaply. Ahmed scored only 7 runs while Hafeez lost his wicket for a duck leaving his team at a score of 37/2. Azhar Ali and Haris Sohail built a small partnership but there was no respite for the team as they lost Ali in the 16th over. He lost his wicket after scoring 36 runs. The next over saw Fawad Alam too losing his wicket for a duck. Problems increased for the team when they lost their 5th wicket at a score of 77. Sohail and Saad Nasim helped the team regain the lost ground as they took their team to a total of 154. Here Sohail lost his wicket after scoring 44 runs. It seemed that the gates have open for Bangladesh yet again but Wahab Riaz made sure that there was no more loss of wicket as he scored 51 runs while Nasim scored 77 runs to take Pakistan to a total of 239 in 50 overs. Shakib Al Hassan took 2 wickets in the match.

The Bangladesh side needed only 240 runs to register their 1st series win against Pakistan. Soumya Sarkar lost his wicket early after scoring only 17 runs but Tamim Iqbal never allowed the visitors to get control of the match. He along with Mahmudullah took the team to a score of 100 runs in 14 overs. Mahmudullah lost his wicket in the 15th over scoring only 17 runs. Mushfiqur Rahim came into bat along with Iqbal. This pair made sure that the team reached a comfortable score and registered a 118 runs partnership. Rahim lost his wicket after scoring 65 runs but Iqbal made sure that the history was made as he remained unbeaten at 116. He took the team to victory in 39th over with 7 wickets in hand. Tamim was names as the man of the math as now Bangladesh leads the series 2-0.
