Papua New Guinea’s middle order seal the series for them against Hong Kong - Papua New Guinea won the 1st ODI and was leading the 2 match series against Hong Kong. The 2nd match was played at the same venue Tony Ireland Stadium in Townsville Australia. This match was the last and the final ODI match for both the team and for Hong Kong it was a must win match to level the series up. After winning the toss the Hong Kong team once again decided to bat first.

Batting first this time the team got to a better start. Waqas Barkat and Anshuman Rath scored 24 and 55 runs respectively. Jamie Atkinson scored 22 runs as the team was able to reach a score of 115/3 in 26th over of the game. The middle order too played its part in the all-important match as Aizaz Khan and Haseeb Amjad came in scoring 29 and 42 runs respectively. These two players made sure that the team reached a respectable score of 261 runs in 49.3 overs. Amjad scored his 42 runs of just 20 balls and was a vital player for the team. Norman Vanua took 4 wickets in the match for Papua New Guinea as the lower order failed to score runs.

Papua New Guinea team got off to a slow start as they were restricted to a score of 49/2 in just 11 overs of the game. The chase didn’t start off well for the team but the middle order responded well to the challenge and brought back the team in the match. Lega Siaka scored 109 runs while he was accompanied by Vani Morea who scored 65 runs. These two batsmen brought the team back to the winning position and they crossed the target with 4 balls remaining in the match. With this win Papua New Guinea won the series 2-0.
