Rayudu’s century leads the team to their 2nd win in the series - After losing the 1st ODI against India the Sri Lankans were looking to make a way back in the Micromax ODI series. The 2nd match of the series was played in Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. This was an essential match for the visitors and after winning the toss they decided to bat first.

Batting first the visitors lost their 1st wicket in the very 1st over of the innings. Kusal Perera was the 1st one to lose his wicket after being bowled by Umesh Yadav. Tillakaratne Dilshan and Kumar Sangakkara fought well to build up a partnership. Together they took the score of 55 when Dilshan lost his wicket after scoring 35 runs. Mahela Jayawardene too lost his wicket pretty early and Indians were successful in taking charge once again. The visitors were in trouble at 64/3 in 14 overs. Angelo Mathews joined hands together with Sangakkara and together they took their team to a score of 154. Sangakkara after scoring 61 runs lost his wicket. Mathews played a gem of a knock as he scored 92 runs. This knock from Mathews took his team to a score of 274 runs in 50 overs. Umesh Yadav, Ravichandran Ashwin and Akshar Patel took 2 wickets each in the innings.

India gained a slow start in the match while chasing the score of 274. Ajinkya Rahane lost his wicket early this time around scoring only 8 runs. Ambati Rayudu was promoted to 1st down and he made a great use of the opportunity. Along with Shikhar Dhawan took the team to a score of 140. Dhawan after scoring 79 lost his wicket in the 27th over of the match. Rayudu moved on to score his maiden century for the country. He remained unbeaten a score of 121 and thus ensured that his team easily crossed he desired mark in just 45 overs. With this win Virat Kohli managed to win the 2nd match under his captaincy. Ambati Rayudu was named as the man of the match for his awesome batting performance.  India now leads the 5 match series by 2-0.
