Perth Scorchers knocks Lions out of the tournament - The 19th match of the Oppo Champions League T20 2014 was one of the most important matches for Group A. it was a match where on winning the match Lahore Lions had the chances of qualifying for the next round and knocking Chennai Super Kings out of the tournament. This match was played between the Lahore Lions and Perth Scorchers. This match was played between the Lahore Lions and Perth Scorchers. This match was played in the city of Bengaluru. After winning the toss the Perth scorchers decided to field first.

Batting first in this all important match the Lahore Lions failed to get a good start. They lost too many quick wickets which led taking the team to a tensed start. The first 4 wickets fell at a score of 11 runs. Later Saad Nasim and Umar Akmal came in and made the team stable once again. They together took the team to a score of 54 runs. In the 10th over Akmal felt after scoring 26 runs. Later Mohammad Saeed joined Nasim to take his team to a score of 102 in 17.5 overs. It was at this point when Saeed too lost his wicket after scoring 20 runs. It was Nasim who remained on the crease and scored 69 runs in 55 balls. His innings helped his team reach a score of 124 in 20 overs. Joel Paris was the best bowler for the scorchers as he took 3 wickets in the match.

It was one of the low scores that one could put up in an important tie. The Lions needed a great start with the ball and they did exactly what was the doctor’s order. The team was successful in taking wickets up early. The first 4 wickets fell inside 6 overs. The scorchers were reduced to 27/4 in 4.5 overs. This was not the end of problems for the scorchers as they lost 3 more quick wickets and were finding themselves in problem at a score of 62/7 in 12.1 overs. It seemed that the Lahore Lions are on top of their game when Mitchell Marsh and Brad Hogg played their best. They together made sure that the team was able to cross the line. Marsh scored 63 runs in 38 balls while Hogg scored 28 runs in 19 balls. These two players collectively knocked Lahore Lions out of the tournament and thus helped Chennai Super Kings qualify for the semi-finals.

Mitchell Marsh today won both the award of Suzuki Gixxer Power Player award and Oppo man of the match award thus winning USD 5000 in total as prize money.
