Shakib drives Bangladesh to victory in the 1st ODI against Zimbabwe - After completing a whitewash in test series against Zimbabwe the Bangladesh team were looking to continue their form in the ODI series. The 1st match of the ODI series was played in Chittagong and here after winning the toss the visitors chose to field first.

The Bangladesh top order failed dramatically in providing their team a start they were looking for. Mominul Haque was the lone player who scored some runs while other 3 batsmen in the top order failed miserably. The home team were reduced to 31/3 when Mominul and Shakib Al Hassan took charge of batting. Mominul after scoring 31 runs lost his wicket and brought in the Mushfiqur Rahim on crease. He along with Shakib played some brilliant cricket and the team gained back momentum. Shakib after scoring 101 runs lost his wicket in the 44th over of the match. Sabbir Rahman joined Rahim and they together took the team to a total of 281 in 50 overs. Rahim scored 65 runs while Rahman scored 44 runs of 25 balls. Tinashe Panyangara took 3 wickets for his team and was the best bowler on this day for Zimbabwe.

The Zimbabwe team got a fairly good start and were at 92/3 in 17 overs. Hamilton Masakadza scored 42 runs while Brendan Taylor scored 54 runs for the team. They were the lone batsmen in the team who managed to score more than 20 runs as no other batsmen in the team managed to cross that mark. The team after getting a good start was bowled out in the 43rd over at a score of 194 only. Shakib was the key man once again in the match as he took 4 wickets and was rightly named as the man of the match for his all-round performance. With this win the home team now leads the 5 match series by 1-0.
