A deserving win for the West Indians against New Zealand - West Indies once a biggest force in the world of cricket is currently running out of form. The team has failed to win a single test match in the previous encounters against India and New Zealand. After losing the first match in the three test matches home series against New Zealand. The West Indies lost the toss in the second test match and were forced to bowl first.

On the first Day of the match West Indies performed their best with the ball. New Zealand batting was able to survive only for 75 over in the first innings. The opener Hamish Rutherford lost his wicket pretty early. But the second opener for the team played an outstanding knock scoring 82 runs in the first innings.  He was partnered well with Kane Williamson as they together scored 104 runs for the second wicket. Ross Taylor was another batsman who managed to score well for his team as he contributed 45 runs. Other than these three players no one contributed much with the bat for the cause and hence New Zealand was bowled out for 221 runs only. Jerome Taylor was the highest wicket taker for the home side as he took 4 wickets. Sulieman Benn too managed to take 3 wickets in the innings thus giving a great advantage to the home side. The day ended with West Indies scoring 6 runs in the 1st innings and losing 1 wicket.

Day 2 started with the wicket of night watchman Sulieman Benn. West Indies lost the second wicket at a score of 16. It seemed that a home side collapse is possible yet again but the opener Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk Edwards controlled the innings for the home side. Brathwaite scored a century in the innings while Edwards managed to score a half century. Darren Bravo too scored a century so as to make sure that the home side has the much needed advantage in the match. The second day ended up with West Indies cruising with 310 runs losing 5 wickets. The West Indians finished the 1s innings on day 3 at a score of 460. Ish Sodhi took 4 wickets in the innings to make sure that his team is still in the match.

On day 3 the visitors had a strong start as they scored 73 runs losing the wicket of Brendon McCullum. Williamson scored half century in the second innings to make sure that they are in the match. BJ Watling also managed to score 66 runs while the lower order batsman Mark Craig too scored 67 runs. The visitors score 331 runs in the second innings and the visitors lost all the wickets in the final day of the match. Kemar Roach was the highest wicket taker for this innings.

The home side was set a target of 93 runs in the last day. The Openers of the home team made sure that their team managed to cross the line and hence the home side won the match with 10 wickets. Kraigg Brathwaite was awarded the man of the match award as now the three match series stands even at 1-1.
