Power Packed Performance By West Indies Guide Them To The Semi’s Of Wt20

The Final league match of group 2 was played between West Indies and Pakistan on 1st April in Dhaka. This match was a virtual Quarter-final as the winning team qualified directly for the semi-finals of the tournament. West Indies captain Sammy won the toss and decided to bat first. The decision of batting first seemed a wrong decision in the first 14 overs as the bowlers dominated the batsmen. At the end of 14th over West Indies were 81/5 with Sammy and bravo on crease to fight it out till the end. The captain and the dangerous all-rounder fought against the formidable Pakistan attack and scored 85 runs in 6 overs. Bravo scored magnificent 46 off just 26 balls and the skipper scored 42 off 20 balls. This partnership between them made sure that West Indies scored 166 at the end of 20 overs.

The West Indies player ended their innings on a high and it was reflected in their bowling too as the first three wickets of Pakistan fell under a score of 10. The two experienced players Hafeez and Malik also failed to provide any resistance to the terrific performance of the West Indian spinners. Narine and Badree took 3 wickets each and Santokie and Russell took 2 wickets each thus bowling Pakistan out very cheaply for just 82. Bravo was declared as man of the match for his terrific performance with the bat. Hence, previous champions walk into the semi-finals to play against the Sri Lankans to defend their title.
