Why Ricky ponting is not playing from last 3 macthes?

It's true that his performances were not as the expected but he should try to improve and obviously people usually see Mumbai Indians matches as the legendary team of the IPL.
@visvjeet: Look this is such a shorter format of the game and a very important tournament for Mumbai Indians. They have played 5 season ans this is the sixth season and they have never lifted this trophy. They cannot keep stuck with Ponting and wait for him to come back to form and perform.
This is where franchise has invested their big amount of money and there are other players who are warming bench as well, so if someone is continuously under performing, he must be asked to sit and others must be given an opportunity.
This is exactly what Ponting has done by dropping himself.
Request you to kindly not ask as to why Tendulkar is not dropping himself even after not performing in 10 matches.
It looks like Sachin Tendulkar has started considering himself as God after people or franchise doesn't want him to sit down in the dug out, because if that happens from next time public will not turn out to see the match and that will cause a loss to the franchise.
Hope you understand that this game is not only about cricket but entertainment and business as well.
Whatever a team does in IPL is for their franchise. Trophy also becomes to the franchise and not the players although it is they who win it.

Ricky Ponting is a player who has never focused on achieving personal records and has a sense for proper cricket. He is therefore considered to be the best captain and player Australia has ever produced after Sir Don Bradman.
He is not the one who will continue playing inspite of being in bad form. He therefore dropped himself so that someone else can replace him and contribute for the team.
Moreover his part in the Mumbai Indians team was to increase the viewers and TRP as two legends of the game will be playing together so that people attracted are more. Franchise will earn more. This is all what IPL is all about. Money. This game is a source of making money. Thats it., nothing else.
